Dr. Nader Jalili joined the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama in September 2018 as Professor and Department Head from Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts) where he was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Associate Department Chair for Graduate Studies and Research, and Director of Northeastern University Piezoactive Systems Laboratory.  An ASME Fellow, Dr. Jalili is currently the Dynamics and Control Systems Subject Editor of International Journal of Mechatronics and Manufacturing Systems, and Associate Technical Editor of Journal of Vibration and Control.  He was the Founding Chair of ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Division Technical Committee on Vibration and Control of Smart Structures.  He was also  the past Associate Editors of ASME Journal of Vibration and Acoustics (2014-2017), ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control (2006-2012) as well as a past Technical Editor of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics from 2005 to 2009.  Dr. Jalili has had a solid, competitive external funding (as PI) totaling over $6M (including some of the most competitive funding; e.g., NSF CAREER, NSF MRI, and DOE Ralph E. Powe Awards). He is the author/co-author of more than 350 peer-refereed technical publications; including over 125 journal papers, 2 single-author books and 5 book chapters with an overall h-index of 36 and total citations of well over 5,000.  He has received many national and international awards including the 2017 Northeastern University (NU) College of Engineering (COE) Outstanding Faculty Service Award for sustained leadership in service, 2015 NU Excellence in Teaching Award, 2015 NUCOE Translational Research Award, 2013 NU COE Martin Essigman Outstanding Teaching Award, 2013, 2012 and 2011 NU Mechanical Engineering Professor of the Year Awards, 2011 ASME Service Award in recognition of outstanding service as the General Conference Chair for the 2011 ASME IDETC/CIE Conferences, 2009 Clemson University (CU) McQueen Quattlebaum Faculty Achievement Award for exemplary leadership in the engineering profession, 2008 CU Murray Stokley Award for excellence in teaching, 2007 ASME Service Award in recognition of extraordinary dedication as General Technical Program Chair for the 2007 ASME IDETC/CIE Conferences, 2007 CU Collaboration Award for demonstrated exemplary and synergistic collaboration in research, 2007 CU Outstanding Young Investigator of the Year, 2007 CU Graduate Student Government Award, 2007 CU Eugene H. Bishop Award for excellence in teaching, 2003-2008 CU Board of Trustees Awards for Excellence in Research, 2003 National Science Foundation CAREER Award, and 2002 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from Department of Energy.  He currently holds an Affiliate Professor position with Northeastern University Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
