Dr. Mahmoodi conducts research in the areas of dynamics, vibrations and control of mechanical systems. His current research is focused on piezoelectrically-actuated nanomechanical biosensors, nonlinear vibrations and controls with application to MEMS, energy harvesting using smart materials, active vibration control of structures with piezoelectric actuators, and vibration control of alternative energy sources such as wind turbine and solar concentrator.
